History on a Pinhead

Maple Wilson, an early settler is the town’s namesake. Originally ranching country, the town grew as ranches were subdivided. A post office open in 1926 and by 1940 the town had six hundred residents served by six businesses. The 1980 population was given as 130 which has slowly decreased to the present 75.
