History in
a Pecan Shell
The town's beginning
has been narrowed down to between 1900 and 1905 - the year the community
built a school. Little is known about the town's early years, WWI
or the Great Depression, but after WWII
the population was a mere 15 people to support a school, store, gin,
and a blacksmith.
The school closed sometime before 1970 and in the mid-70s the town
consisted of the gin, store / gas station and a grain elevator. The
Lakeview Baptist Church was still active in the 1980s. |
