History in a Pecan Shell

There is little history available. The community was evidently founded in the 1890s – evidenced by the cemetery lichgate. Sardis had a school which also served as the Baptist church until a separate building could be constructed in 1898. The school merged with the Roby ISD in the mid 1920s.
