History
in a Pecan Shell
Named for President
Woodrow Wilson, the community began life in the early years of the
20th Century. The first school was built by 1917 and due to its proximity
to Lubbock,
growth was slow. First population figures come from after WWII
when it had reached an even 100 residents.
By the 1970s, the community had no businesses and the population had
fallen to eighty. In the late 1980s there were a couple of businesses
and the population grew to 85 for both the 1990 and 2000 census. |
