The
painting was evidently done prior to Alpine getting a library, or
else reading was once regarded as an activity that needed to be done
away from town.
The post office moved to a new location in September of 2000. County
offices now occupy the former building. The mural has remained in
place, although viewing is not as easy as it once was. |

The
hand painted sign on the Crystal Bar caught our attention for it's
matter-of-fact artistry. The artist was Style Read. Looking to the
right of the Crystal Bar's entrance will give the viewer a look at
exactly the same type of landscape that is in the painting.
