Alpine
– Big Bend Historical Museum
Now known as Museum
of the Big Bend, the museum is located on a hillside and constructed
of native stone and located on the campus of Sul Ross State University.
The main floor contains the central exhibit hall of pioneer and other
historical materials, plus an exhibit of fossils, flora, and fauna
of West Texas, and
a hall devoted to Indian relics. The construction of the museum was
made possible by Centennial Commission funds, a Works Progress Administration
project, and the contribution by the Sul Ross State Teachers College.
The museum is located on Avenue B and North Harrison in Alpine.
