History in a Pecan Shell

Brogado was founded by farmers who taking advantage of the water flowing from San Solomon Springs and was named for a Catholic priest, Father Brogado

A post office was granted in 1894 and remained open until 1918.

A school was educating the community's children by 1897.

Brogado retains its old cemetery and a Catholic church, but has merged with Balmorhea and Toyahvale for all practical purposes.
