History in
a Pecan Shell
Sprayberry was
named after an oil company airfield. It sprang into existence in the
early 1950s and had a post office until 1960 when it closed.

“Sprayberry was located 15 miles southeast of Midland
on SH 158 at FM 1379. An old map shows that there was a church here
but there’s no sign of it now.” Barclay
