Now
in its 7th year, the 2009 event will introduce you to a new group of former Columbus
residents. Photos
shown here are from last years program.
Organizers were faced with the
intimidating challenge of writing this year’s tour without the help of County
Historian Bill Stein, whose
untimely death earlier this year looked as if it might jeopardize the event.
But
Bill Stein was full of surprises
and when his desk revealed the pre-written scripts of most of this years’ participants,
the sigh of relief was heard as far west as Bastrop
and as far east as Katy.
The tour is “a thinking-person’s Halloween” – and is more of a celebration of
life.
The tour is highly recommended for three types of people: 1.
Those who never attended a good cemetery tour. 2. Those who have attended a
bad cemetery tour and regretted it. 3. People who plan to have a cemetery
tour in their town and need to know how it’s done properly.
Out of town? Spend
the night in Columbus at a hotel
and explore the town and
surrounding region
on your way home.
