Shadowland,
Deport, Texas
"Somehow
I ventured onto your page about Shadowland in Deport,
Texas and saw the comments that there was no evidence of a town
and the dilapidated buildings.
Shadowland was never a town. During the first half of the 20th century,
Shadowland was the summer home of the family that had several thousand
acres of cotton in the Deport
area. The family's primary home was in Paris,
Texas.
Shadowland burned in the 1970s. It was vacant at the time as the owners
had passed away and the heirs lived in other states.
This was my father's family." - Gaile Sweeney, Manassas, VA,

Note
“This one is preying
on my mind. Don’t really know why. Maybe it’s the uniqueness of the
name. This is another town that isn’t there - even though it is on
the map. There is a lot of cotton farming in the immediate area,
but not much else.
If someone wants to drive here for the name, be warned that what my
pictures show is pretty much all there is.”
"I find it odd that it is in such close proximity of three towns:
Deport, Fullbright
and Rugby.” (See map
below) - Gerald
