"The McMullen County jail in Tilden (formerly known as Dog Town) was built in 1880 and used until 1967 when a jail annex was built onto the rear of the 1930 McMullen County courthouse." - Terry Jeanson

First County Jail, built 1880 at cost of $2800. First expenses included 2 blankets, pair of leg irons, 2 pairs handcuffs.
