The 1908 Courthouse
was razed
to built the 1954 thing they now have.
The photos and postcards below show the 1908 Hidalgo County Courthouse
in various stages of its life. Note the large cupola on the first
three courthouse illustrations. This was damaged during a storm and
shortened. |

In
the early 1950s a man, angry at a court decision, brought a bomb
to the courthouse that exploded on the staircase (while still attached
to his leg), causing expensive repairs and a very messy cleanup.
