Cattlemen Robert
and James H. Cator are credited with being the first settlers
back in the 1870s, but it wasn't until the railroad (North Texas and
Santa Fe) arrived in 1929 that a community was formed. Charles A.
Morse, chief engineer of the railroad became the town's namesake.
In the late 1930s the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railroad crossed
tracks with the Santa Fe making Morse a two-railroad town. A post
office was granted in 1929 and the Morse Monitor was first
published that same year. The 1939 population was just under 100 citizens,
doubling within 10 years.
Morse and Pringle merged in 1977.
In 1980 Morse's population swelled to 150.
