History in a Pecan Shell

Pringle was born of the railroad. In this case it was the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railroad when it connected Stinnett and Hitchland in 1929. That same year a post office opened, although it was to close only 18 years later. William H. Pringle, the town's namesake was the donor of land for the first school. Pringle had a population of twenty in 1933. The town reached its zenith in 1947 when 60 people called Pringle home. It has remained at an estimated 40 since 1974.

Morse and Pringle merged in 1977.
