History in
a Pecan Shell
The
community was named after Thomas S. Dulin, a teacher who left to serve
in the Civil War and returned to teach after the war. He is said to
have married another teacher.
The couple bought a huge tract of land (some sources say 20 sections
and made their home around Clear Creek. Dulin was granted a post office
in 1896 although it closed in 1903. Accounts are sketchy but the school
pictured above is thought to have merged with schools in Brookesmith.
The only population estimate available is from the 1940s when 50 residents
lived here. |
