Across
the street from the Livestock
Pavilion lies the Horse Barn, a series of stables with an exercise
yard. The whole thing is closed throughout most of the year. It is
rarely used during the state fair because most of the equestrian competitions
take place during the weekends of two months leading to the annual
event. Taking place at the Coliseum in August and September, the contests
include barrel races, mounted shooting, horse shows, and ranch sorting.
