The
Top of Texas Tower is located southeast of Fair
Park Coliseum. Officials planned to open the ride in September
2012 for visitors of the state fair. Unfortunately, because it would
take three or four more months to assemble the parts, the tentative
opening was changed to May 2013 in hopes it would be ready for Summer
Adventures in Fair Park.
Designed by a local firm named Good Fulton & Farrell, the attraction
became the world's tallest tower ride at a height of five hundred
feet, more than twice the distance of the Texas
Star. The air-conditioned, rotating cabin was capable of seating
a hundred people and lasted five to seven minutes, allowing the passengers
to enjoy panoramic views of Fair
Park and the city of Dallas. |
