History in
a Pecan Shell
The town dates
from 1905 and it had its own post office – albeit briefly (1907-09).
Alton Griffin is credited with operating the town’s first store and
although no population figures are available prior to 1940 – the figure
for the census that year was a mere 50 people. That year the town
consisted of the store, a church and a blacksmith. The decades passed
and the population declined to where on 16 people resided there by
1980 and it was only half of that by 2000. |
