Carolyn Heinsohn
Carolyn has been
interested in local history and family stories since childhood. She
was born in La Grange, left to attend college and work as a registered
nurse in California and Houston, but returned to La Grange in 1990.
She was a co-author of the two-volume Fayette County, Texas Heritage
history books, published in 1996, fulfilling her longtime desire to
further document the history of Fayette County.
She was also one of the founders of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural
Center in La Grange in 1995 and served on their board, as well as
serving as the editor of the organization's newsletter for ten years,
documenting various aspects of Texas Czech history.
As a member of the Fayette County Historical Commission, she chairs
the commission's newspaper column, Footprints of Fayette, and
regularly contributes articles for the column. In addition to being
an avid genealogist and writer, Carolyn also enjoys photography, especially
capturing the beauty of Fayette County.
